The Real: a poem

I think about Howard Griffith ” know your place —

I think about on some levels since being displaced to Skid Row

I escaped the bondage of capitalistic America and corporate prostitution

While losing my programmed mind of knowing my place in the Stepford wife and June Cleaver syndrome I gained my militant Angela Davis will

Yet the bondage is still prevalent and caught up in the Kim Kardashian hype .

Sadly, the bondage exists even in the movement …..

So, I no longer live in a million dollar neighborhood . Instead in a dilapidated SRO that I pay $56 a month for.

I used to go to work and considered myself privileged with my own office and name plaque on my door .

I now consider myself free and call my office the streets.
