Creating Community at the Blu Elefant Cafe

Most individuals visiting cafes wouldn’t really expect being surrounded by art groups. We are spearheading the change and formation of the mental health community and culture by using the free open space at cafes to invite everyone there to get involved and express what’s on their mind.

We believe culture begins with care and outreach. So many of us have diverse backgrounds and history around mental illness and providing the opportunity to connect through art is a great ice breaker and friend maker.

Our goal is to partner up with several mom and pop cafes to promote mental illness and use the space for other venues such as open mic for spoken word, music performances, and showcasing our resident artists work.
If you know of local coffee houses that you believe would be a great fit for Painted Brain to hold events or group sessions, contact James Giaquinto at james@paintedbrain.org.
We invite all of you to join our community and become leaders in changing the conversation about mental illness. If you have ideas around outreach you would like to share, please contact us at hello@paintedbrain.org.

We’re always looking to expand and improve our outings and the way we conduct outreach. Get involved and make the difference today.
