OUR WOMEN’S DAY GROUP NEEDS YOUR HELP

Hello friends!

We are running our end of the year campaign and would love for you to specifically donate to our Women’s Day program. To be transparent, it is underfunded and needs immense support from our community.

Did you know women are twice more likely to have common mental health disorders compared to men?

Overall rates of psychiatric disorder are almost identical for men and women but striking gender differences are found in the patterns of mental illness.

Here’s why:

  • Depending on the socioeconomic structure and geography, women can be viewed as having a 2nd class status in society. Violence against women and the cultural expectation as caregivers can be associated with this.
  • Less than 50% of women experiencing mental health issues seek out services which can be directly linked in how stigma plays out in society.
  • Women are even less likely to seek services due to gender inequality and male chauvinism that’s pervasive throughout mental health agencies and services provided.
  • Patriarchal and sexist behaviors lead women to be retraumatized as well as shy away from participating in mental health communities because of fear and unwelcoming environments.

It is our mission to bring awareness around issues that pertain to mental health and our community. We as an organization must support individuals that are marginalized for their differences. We are a trauma-informed community and welcome women to come speak up, make art, and be heard. Our Women’s Day group is dedicated to creating a safe space for healing, creativity, and friendship.

Each $50 donation will keep Women’s Day running all day

$20 will pay a group leader to run an art or food group.

Every dollar counts towards paying stipends for our group leaders, creating more job opportunities for people who were formerly isolated, even homeless..

Donate now and help us grow our impact and support women of mental health!
