Alice Jung

Creative Director

Alice Jung is the Creative Director of Painted Brain and the Chief Creative Officer and founder of CodiePie, a subsidiary tech company of Painted Brain that specializes in CMS and Custom Plugin Development, as well as MarQ Hub for cloud apps. Her zeal for mental health and design thinking led her to integrate CodiePie into Painted Brain forging the opportunity for innovative technology to accompany and support mental health programs through the Painted Brain Academy. Painted Brain Academy programs include holistic coding and computer literacy workshops, focused on strength development, purpose, and productivity as a new sector of their recovery program.

Painted Brain has operated on a service-oriented business model. For much of its history, the project ran with volunteers, mental health consumer, and social work and occupational therapist interns under the supervision of the founding director Dave Leon, building an arts community. Through the internship program, Painted Brain developed an effective model for art group interventions for psychiatric populations that have been shown to increase connection and trust and to decrease various anxiety symptoms.

One of her primary goals for 2018 is to support Painted Brain in the expansion of it’s WordPress Workshops into the many IMDs/ psyche facilities, public libraries, and homeless drop-in centers surrounding the Los Angeles area and design a curricula with a holistic approach focused on Adobe Photoshop, Indesign, and Illustrator as a recovery module and a way to redefining design thinking for social practice.
