Heather Bailey

Intern - Media News Coordinator

How I heard about Painted Brain:

I heard about the Painted Brain through my Master’s in Social Work program at CSUN, this is my field placement for the first year of the two-year program.

What my thoughts are about mental health:

The concept of mental health can have a generally negative connotation but is an important part of everyone’s lives. I think one of the most important goals of the Painted Brain is to change the conversation and reduce the stigma that is associated with mental illness.

My goals here at the Painted Brain:

Some of my goals here are to support the members with their individual projects and help bring the Speakers Bureau to new agencies, such as law enforcement.

How Painted Brain has contributed to my growth:

Painted Brain has contributed to my growth by pushing me out of my comfort zone and closer to the role of advocate and community coordinator.

How Painted Brain can improve:

We can continue to reach out to new areas and people who may not be familiar with mental illness or how to relate to the people who experience them.
