Painted Brain hosted the LEAD Regional Summit – Los Angeles on May 8th, 2023 at The California Endowment. This one day conference was organized for peers in Los Angeles County to come together and discuss advocacy, mental health and recovery and was a great success with 85 community members in attendance and many more joining via Facebook Live.
In preparation for this event, Painted Brain conducted a series of listening sessions in partnership with CAMHPRO for peers in the African American/Black community, Asian and Pacific Islander community, Disabled community, Older Adult community and Latinx community to understand what gaps exist in our access to recovery care.
The culminating listening session, “The Listening Gallery” was produced as an immersive listening experience with recorded, peer-to-peer interviews. These sessions are being produced into a podcast series and will be streamed at the Statewide LEAD Conference in Sacramento. We are grateful to our speakers who addressed policy and advocacy in the peer community, our resources vendors, workshop leaders and staff for coming together for such an important and inspiring event.
